Storybook is a free and open source book writing software. Its website gives the description of the software as follows. “Store all information about your characters and locations in one place. Then, use the included Storybook features for managing chapters, scenes, characters and locations. A simple interface is provided to enable you to assign your defined characters and locations to each scene and to keep an overview of your work with user-friendly chart tools.”

Compared with yWriter, a popular free novel writing software, the interface of Storybook is not very intuitive. The screen is rather cluttered with lots of elements. Storing and viewing all information in one single screen may be a good idea, in principle. However, for some people (including me), the complicated screen may not have an appeal as a simple writing tool. Storybook runs on Windows XP and later and also has Linux version. It also support 18 languages including Dutch, Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese and Japanese.
