I started using Evernote in the late 2009. It was early days of the now-world-famous note taking software.
I used it for storing most of my personal and work-related information. I also used it for clipping book for interesting websites. Instapaper did not exist at that time so Evernote was the most useful software for website clipping.
Fast forward to 2015. These days, I do not use Evernote as often as I did in the past because it got bulky and complicated. I think I am not the only one who thinks that way given the many search results for “alternative to Evernote“.
In this regard, one software that is often mentioned is Alternote. The term “alternative” may not be correct 100 percent because the app still depends on the data of Evernote.
Although it shares data of Evernote, Alternote has simpler and faster interface than Evernote. The layout of Alternote looks similar to that of Simplenote, a great online note taking software. If you cannot part with large data stored in Evernote and want an easier and faster way to add and search notes, Alternote is the best software available.
You can read these reviews to get more information on Alternote.
One problem. Alternote is only for Mac. For similar software for Linux and Windows, read this post.
Finally, you may just want to leave the Evernote ecosystem for good and try different apps. In that case, check out this review.
